Sounz Forza Workshops, located in the beautiful lakeside town of Wanaka, Central Otago, set up in 2010 to address the need for contemporary courses for musicians of all ages and genres. They are run by the not-for-profit group Lake Wanaka Sounz which was set up in 1997 to promote NZ music.
Lake Wanaka SouNZ Incorporated has been running Rippon Festivals (now TUKI Festival) since last millenium, The variety of Sounz Forza music workshops feature top Kiwi musicians and icons within the industry as guest tutors at most workshops.
Whether you are looking to upskill in the area of performance, management, or sound production, each workshop promises to be fun as well as educational. Workshop numbers are kept deliberately small to ensure maximum benefit to each attendee.
Sounz Forza Workshops (Forza, meaning ‘strength’) are specifically designed to cater for people who wish to have music as the main force within their career. The minimum age for any workshop is 14, and there is also a special workshop aimed solely at junior student musicians.
Upon completion, each attendee receives a Lake Wanaka SouNZ Certificate, detailing skills covered within the workshop. A USB stick full of things covered is also issued in some workshops.
Each workshop is partially subsidised by Lake Wanaka SouNZ and community funding. Some schools also offer assistance with workshop fees, if the music industry is where you see your future. Contact your school Careers Advisor.
